I have a pair of Razer Opus X headphones that I enjoy a lot, not just because they’re bright green. Razer does a great job with audio, but now nobody wants to go out with a Kraken on their head. The RGB and giant ear-disguised “look at me” cup doesn’t, in fact, light anything on the Barracuda other than the power LED. There is elegance and subtlety to this gaming headset and I love it.
It’s a little heavier than, say, a Razer BlackShark V2, but not what you’d ever call heavy. It’s made mostly from strong-feeling, matte plastic. It gets a bit of fingerprint, but it’s solid, I’d actually say the Barracuda audio feels better overall.

Besides the tasteful design, the other big thing Razer did to make the Barracuda more tolerable for non-gaming purposes is the removal of a protruding microphone. It doesn’t detach or recede or hang from the side of your face, it doesn’t exist.
There’s still a microphone on the Barracuda, but it’s only permanently part of the earcups. Again, only better as you’ll get on the Opus headphones, it’s still a gaming headset.
The Razer Barracuda gets extra points for wirelessly supporting almost every imaginable platform. Razer includes a 3.5mm cable so you can connect it to your controller, for wireless use, you have two options, and you can use them seamlessly.
The first is good old Bluetooth, which is perfect for connecting to a mobile device or Nintendo Switch. The other is Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless with a little USB-C dongle, which works for PCs, PlayStation 5 USB-C-enabled phones, and tablets.

The last one is a happy coincidence in the grand scheme of things, Razer certainly didn’t mention it on the box.
